Our courses and workshops are hands-on, informative, informal, practical and fun. They are held in our very own workshop in the wonderful surroundings of the former Norfolk Wildlife Park. Classes are suitable for anyone from 15 to 115 and normally accommodate 4 to 6 people. As you will be taught by both Fran and Clive you can be sure of some personal attention and more than a few painting tips. We have been painting furniture for over 30 years and use the fabulous paints we stock to personally hand-paint the items we sell and transform.

Painting Techniques: £65 (3hours) (09:30-12:30)
This workshop is suitable for anyone from complete beginners to those with basic painting experience.
On this course you will learn about our paints and techniques and we will show you how to create a range of styles and finishes.
The course includes: preparation; creating a classic finish; one & two colour ageing and distressing; achieving a classic milky sheen and how to create a perfect finish. We will also show you how to raise the grain of wood to create a rustic look, demonstrate how to use waxes and glazes to create different effects and show you how to use the paints to dye and paint fabrics and upholstery
You will be able to practice the techniques on pieces of timber (skirting board, architrave or similar) before we let you loose on a small item such as a pair of candlesticks or a small wooden box, which you will be able to decorate using the techniques you have learned and which you can keep to take home with you when you have finished, along with all your practice pieces.
During the course we will also share many other anecdotes, tips and ideas from our 30 years of painting experience and answer any questions and queries you may have.
All paints, products, equipment, materials and light refreshments are provided and included.
Advanced Painting and Decorative Techniques: £65 (3 hours 1:30—4:30)
This workshop adds to, builds on and compliments, the techniques learned in Painting Workshop 1 and at the end of the course you will be able to confidently produce furniture and more with a little 'je ne sais quoi'.
On this course the techniques covered include - stencilling, cracking, using Craquelure and Crackle glaze, ageing & antiquing and gilding (using gilding pastes and metal leaf). We will also demonstrate image transfer, decoupage and how to use using patterned rollers and how to apply glazes. You will be able to practice on pieces of timber, before you use the skills you have learned to paint and decorate a small wooden (jewellery or bird) box, which you will be able to take home with you, along with your practice board.
Don’t forget : We are always happy to share hints and tips so if you have any questions then feel free to ask during the course.
There is a £10 discount on this course if both Workshop 1 and Workshop 2 are booked and attended on the same day
If attending both courses, you will need to bring a packed lunch!
Bring Your Own: £95 Full Day (10am—4pm)
For those with some experience of painting, this workshop is ideal. Bring a small piece of furniture with you (a bedside cabinet, side table, pot cupboard, stool or chair for example) and we will help you to transform it! We will spend some time showing you examples of different techniques, styles and finishes and then, after discussion. you will be able to choose the style and finish you want to create. Once you are happy, we will help you to create the perfect piece for you. During the day we will also show you other techniques and finishes as well as demonstrating colour mixing, layering and additional finishing touches. At the end of the day, you will take home your transformed piece and a whole array of new ideas and skills.
All paints, products, equipment, materials and light refreshments are provided and included but please bring your own lunch!

There is some small print - When you book a place on one of our courses, we will ask you to pay the full workshop fee at the time of booking. You can pay by on-line or by phone using a credit/debit card. If you have to cancel but can provide 14 days notice prior to the workshop date, we will refund your whole course fee. If you have to cancel with between 7 and 14 days' notice we will refund the cost of the course minus a £30 fee. If we are able to re-fill your place before the course, we will refund the full workshop fee. In the event of a cancellation of five days or less prior to a workshop, we will unfortunately not be able to refund your payment unless we are able to re-fill your place. If this is possible, we will contact you and refund the full workshop fee.
Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.
If we have less than 4 people booked on a Workshop then we may not be able to run it but you will be offered a place on an alternative date.
